SAN ANTONIO - The man who was hit and killed while trying to cross a Southeast Side street on a minibike has been identified.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner identified the man as 19-year-old Jose Chavez.

The deadly accident happened just before 2 p.m. Tuesday along Schley Avenue and South Palmetto Street.
Police said the minibike driver was speeding on the sidewalk along South Palmetto Street and tried to cross the street to the next section of sidewalk. Unfortunately, the minibike was in the SUV's blind spot and the driver didn't see the minibike and hit the bike while making a turn. Chavez was thrown from the bike and sustained severe head injury.
He was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The SUV driver stayed at the scene. No charges are expected, but the investigation is still ongoing.
