Mitchellville police warn Iowans after near-tragic minibike accident

First responders in Mitchellville are sharing a warning with Iowans tonight, after what could have been a tragic crash.

It happened Friday. Police say a juvenile was riding an electric minibike, ran a stop sign and hit the front of a car.

The car was scratched and dented, but the driver was concerned he had run someone over.

Police say a second sooner, and the juvenile on the minibike could have been hit by the front of the car and there would have been a different outcome.

Police are asking parents to confine electric toys to private property, or in areas where they are not in direct contact with other vehicles.
